IQVIA™ is looking for a highly talented Editor to join our Medical and Patient Communication (MPC) team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and contribute to an extensive range of offerings, including medical affairs, market access, promotional activities, and patient support and adherence programs. We are seeking a seasoned Editor interested in working in a fast-paced environment with a multidisciplinary team to a wide range of project types using both print and digital media. However, we will also consider applications from Editors looking for a more challenging role and the next step up in their career.

Description:

We need a team player to contribute to the production of high-quality, strategic medical communication programs and materials for our pharmaceutical clients. Our Editors work on many materials and manage the editorial progression of projects from approved copy to delivery (print and/or digital), ensuring optimum communication is achieved through effective use of words and design. Where appropriate, the Editor will act as editorial lead on account team/teams, providing in-depth knowledge and expertise on assigned projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Carry out editorial work as required, producing the full range of communication materials in accordance with the needs of the client, target audience and publication/communication medium.

 Ensure the high quality and timely delivery of materials for assigned projects.

 Provide editorial advice/consultancy in areas of expertise, and provide direction, support and troubleshooting for project team(s), thus contributing to successful project delivery.

 Assist in maintaining overall editorial quality control (QC), ensuring all assigned items are of the highest quality and are delivered within the agreed specification and budget. Assist in maintaining consistency of both editorial content and page layout/design across multi-item projects.

 Liaise with project/account teams on project planning/forecasting/scheduling in order to manage prioritization and division of editorial workloads effectively and provide forecasts on freelance/recruitment needs. Attend and proactively contribute to project status/priorities meetings.

 Estimate editorial hours for budgets as required. Assist in the development and implementation of production schedules and deliver assigned projects and tasks in accordance with budgeted hours and agreed deadlines. Monitor progress of projects and communicate any variances to timelines/budgeted specifications to the project managers.

 Monitor procedures and processes to help ensure project team(s) operate at maximum efficiency.

 Contribute to account/new business development, attending brainstorm meetings and assisting in the development of proposals when required.

Minimum Required Education and Experience :

Excellent attention to detail.

First-class copy-editing and proofing skills, to a standard appropriate for QC sign-off.

Sound layout-checking/copy-fitting, to a standard appropriate for QC sign-off.

Strong computer skills, including MS office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Internet and reference management programs (EndNote).

Familiarity with publication planning databases an advantage.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Demonstrable editorial experience across a wide range of accounts, including promotional projects, publication planning programs, symposium and exhibition materials, new business proposals and marketing materials, for a range of audiences.

Detailed knowledge of the medical communications industry.

Full understanding of print/production procedures and timelines.

Ability to review the work of colleagues and provide constructive feedback.

Good coaching and mentoring skills an advantage.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.

Ability to delegate effectively.

Ability to work to tight timelines, and to organize/motivate colleagues to meet team deadlines.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, clients and suppliers.

Ability to provide accurate estimates of editorial hours.

A science (or relevant) degree, and a minimum of 5 years’ editorial experience in a medical communications agency or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.

Use of telephone and extensive face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.

Regular sitting for extended periods of time.
